About the College

The College of Engineering and Information Technology started to admit/enroll students at the beginning of the academic year 2005/2006 starting with two programs only; Software Engineering and Computer Science. However, there were not a significant number of students in the beginning, but it started to increase rapidly in the following semesters, especially in the Software Engineering programs. At the beginning of the academic year 2007/2008 and due to the market demands in the Gulf region, Networks & Communications Engineering and Computer Engineering programs have been launched and that attracted a large number of students, especially the Networks & Communications Engineering.

The College of Engineering and Information Technology is committed to the ambitious vision to be one of the leading colleges in the Information Technology in the Gulf region adding to the distinctive contributions in the field of education, scientific research and community services in addition to being a prominent place to study and work at. As well as committed to its mission, this set since its inception is to provide services to students by offering high-quality programs that are implemented in distinct learning environment to enable them to take leading positions as leaders in the field of Information Technology.

The College of Engineering and Information Technology chose to offer the optimum education performance, as is the case in other colleges in the Al Ain University of Science and Technology, under the guidelines of the Committee of Academic Accreditation, since all plans and programs in the college does not become effective unless approved by the Committee of Academic Accreditation of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in United Arab Emirates.

In order to maintain the quality standards in teaching, the college recruited a group of outstanding teachers that are interested in developing teaching methodologies based on the impact of feedback from multiple channels to assess the teaching process, teachers and various resources supporting the teaching processes. The assessment contributors are primarily students, alumni, and faculty members.

Scientific research has a good margin of interest at the college and is available for those who are interested in. however, a faculty member would not get the annual assessment that leads to job continuation or promotion unless both teaching and continuous research are combined. As the University supports research work and attending international and local conferences through adequate budget prepared for that particular purpose. It should be noted that scientific research is not limited to faculty members only, but the area is open to students as well.
