Al Ain University and Abu Dhabi Emiratization Council launch the ‘Future’ system for workforce development

In order to reduce the fissure between the higher education outcomes and labor market requirements in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, Al Ain University and Abu Dhabi Emiratization Council launch the ‘Future’ system for workforce development.

Al Ain University in Abu Dhabi declared yesterday, in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Emiratization Council, the launching of the first phase of the new electronic system, ‘Future’ for workforce development through which the new students can access it to learn about the leading scientific disciplines required in the labor market in Abu Dhabi during the coming years.

The Board binds the workforce development system in the first phase with 3 leading universities and colleges, including Al Ain University, and is currently underway to link with other universities and colleges which will be announced soon.

Through the workforce development system, the AAU students will be able to know the leading employers and requirements of different disciplines in institutions of higher education and choose the majors that help them to get promising future careers upon graduation.

Dr Abdul Hafeez Belarbi, the AAU Vice President, Mr Abdullah Abdel Al Ali Al Humaidan, the Higher Executive Director of the Abu Dhabi Emiratization Council, and an elite group of leading officials from both institutions have attended the launch of the system "Future" for workforce development in the University.

On this occasion, Dr. Abdul Hafeez Belarbi, the AAU Vice President, said that the collaboration between the University and the Abu Dhabi Emiratization Council comes to provide scientific outputs to suit the needs of the local labor market of national employment. Moreover, Al Ain University has the privilege of inaugurating the first phase of the system ‘Future’ as being of great importance in reducing the gap between the higher education outcomes, labor market requirements and higher education inputs, allowing students to see disciplines required in the coming years, followed by their choices of specializations.

He even added that the University is the third institution of higher education that launches the first phase of this new system, which binds multidisciplinary needs of the labor market, contributing to supplement the State with qualified graduates to work in the disciplines required to engage in a sustainable development of the State.

Disciplines at the level of Engineering, Pharmacy, Law and other fields are contented with their ability to contribute to the preparation and qualification of national employment in the disciplines required for the labor market to be a real addition to the development process.

Mr Abdullah Abdel Al Ali Al Humaidan, the Higher Executive Director of the Abu Dhabi Emiratization Council, claimed that the launching of the ‘Future’ system comes up to e-transformation in the Abu Dhabi Government, referring to the influential role played in the efforts to reduce the gap between scientific disciplines and between an Emirati employer’s needs, expertise and skills in the short and long term.

Al Humaidan also confirmed that the system depends primarily on the responsiveness of employers and higher education institutions to join the workforce development system, where data accuracy and quality through cooperation of employers whether governmental or quasi-governmental or private in including current and future needs of job vacancies, which contributes effectively to provide a clear picture for students of universities and colleges on specialties needed clear and comprehensive reading for decision-makers on the UAE's workforce of the future.

It should be noted that the Council is currently completing the second phase of the system, which includes higher education, where students will be provided with opportunities for practical training and field experience during their academic years which helps them to enable access to the necessary skills and equip them for the job market after graduation.
