Within the “Freshmen Week” Event .. AAU President meets the freshmen for the New Academic Year 2016-2017

 With the beginning of the first semester of the new academic year 2016-2017, the Deanship of Student Affairs at Al Ain University -Al Ain Campus, organized the "Freshmen Week" Event, which lasted over three days included welcoming and advising meetings for the new students from various colleges. Where the first day has been specified for the students of, the College of Engineering and Information Technology, the College of Education, Humanities and Social Sciences, the College of Law and the College of Communication and Media, While the Second day was for the College of Pharmacy and the College of Business Administration students.

Dr. Ibtehal Aburezeq, Dean of Student Affairs and Director of Development and Follow-up welcomed the new students and provided tips and instructions for them, in addition to the importance of the student continues with the Deanship of Student Affairs to take advantage of student services and activities, stressing the importance of  refinement of the student personality and to express his opinion, which contributes to gain different experiences and skills, stressing that the Deanship of Student Affairs is fully prepared to provide cultural, social, sports and artistic activities through its various divisions.

The third day of the “Freshmen Week” Event has been specified for the AAU President meeting with the new students, where Prof. Ghaleb Al Refae –AAU President, welcomed the new students and stressed on that the university will pay attention to the students by the University administration and staff. Moreover, Al Ain University seeks to provide services for the students to ensure a suitable atmosphere for studying.

The University’s President has pointed out that the University, through the development phase, has come a long way from the academic plans for the various programs offered in six colleges, namely College of Engineering and IT, College of Pharmacy, College of Law, College of Education, Humanities and Social Sciences, College of Business Administration and College of Communication and Media, in addition to  getting the international accreditation for the colleges, Where lately the College of Engineering and Information Technology has got the international accreditation from (ABET) in the United States, in addition to the College of Pharmacy which is the first and only university at the level of the United Arab Emirates that held the international certification from the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), As well as, the College of Law obtained the international accreditation from the Supreme Council for Evaluation, Research and Higher Education in France.

He also emphasizes the need for the student to certain reference during Undergraduate, stressing the role of academic guidance for new students so that students are aware of their study plans, stressing at the same time the role of academic advising for new students , forewarned at the same the consequences of incomplete and cumulative exams because they put pressure on the student. In addition to the importance of listening to the  professor's instructions, on the other hand, encouraging them on the need for research and the use of references in the library to get the correct information.

At the end of the meeting, Prof. Al Refae thanked all the attendees and wished them a successful academic year.
