AAU fights Family Violence

The Deanship of Student Affairs at Al Ain University, Al Ain Campus, organized a seminar about “The National Institutions Role in facing Family Violence” in collaboration with the College of Law, Presented by Ms. Zamzam Al Ameri from Dubai Foundation for Women & Children and Dr. Jamal Barafi from AAU, in the presence of academic and administrative staffs and students.
Ms. Zamzam spoke about the Foundation's role in protecting women from all forms of violence and providing assistance, including psychological, social and legal rehabilitation programs, as well as various activities to empower them and their families in society. She also addressed the concept of violence and its types, which are verbal, physical and emotional, stating that the institution receives about 98 percent of women who experienced violence.
The seminar dealt with violence against children, where 3 out of 4 children being incurred to violence annually around the world. The UAE has taken care to protect the child from violence by endorsing the "Wadeema" law, which guarantees children their physical, psychological and emotional rights and guarantees them the right to life.
Ms. Zamzam and Dr. Barafi talked about other topics in the field of violence, such as, human trafficking, selling organs and selling children.
The aim of this seminar was to raise awareness among the public about ways to resolve family disputes, increase ties within the same family and protect their members, especially women and children, from abuse or violence, and to avoid violence in all its forms and forms against women, children or even men. Ms. Zamzam recommended to the public that it is necessary to communicate with the Dubai Foundation for the care of women and children if there is any suspicion of any violence directed against any member of the community, and not to be indifferent to these cases.
