The Cybersecurity Students Secure Top 2 places in CyberForge CTF Competition

The Cybersecurity Program, part of the College of Engineering, led by Dr. Muath AlShaikh and Kenan Hassan, was able to secure the first and second positions in the CyberForge Capture The Flag competition, which took place during the CyberForge conference. This competition tested the contestants’ cyber-skills by providing a realistic network infrastructure scenario with hidden security flaws based on fundamental security weaknesses, where the winner has to find the most vulnerabilities and gain points (called flags) while doing so. The students, Moath Owheeb and Hamzah Salem, successfully identified a larger number of vulnerabilities and cyber-weaknesses in the realistic scenarios created by Immersive Labs, and prevailed against 46 competitors in this challenge, outperforming other local universities that participated in the competition.
