Workshop to Promote the Values of Giving in the Community

The Student Affairs Deanship at the Abu Dhabi campus, in collaboration with the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments, organized a virtual lecture titled "Zakat: Development and Sustainability," presented by Professor Suleiman Al-Habash. The lecture addressed the concept of zakat and its significance in Islam, highlighting its rulings, etiquettes, and the categories eligible for its distribution, along with its conditions. It was emphasized that zakat is an obligatory duty for every Muslim, being the third pillar of Islam. The lecture also explained the types of wealth subject to zakat, such as crops, fruits, livestock, minerals, gold, silver, trade goods, and stocks. In conclusion, the lecture focused on the role of zakat in promoting the values of giving and cooperation within the community. The event witnessed active participation from attendees, who contributed insightful questions that enriched the discussion.
