An educational conference will be held at AAU in May 2011

Research and Practice in Education

The College of Education at Al Ain University is pleased to announce its second educational conference entitled ‘Research and Practice in Education’ to be held on May 1st, 2011, at the Al Ain University’s new campus. The aim of this conference is to examine current practices in the field of education in the UAE in general and in the Abu Dhabi Emirate in particular. Another aim of the conference is to provide an opportunity for educators to meet each other, exchange research ideas, and receive feedback from their colleagues about their research.

The College invites educationalists from academic institutions in the country to submit research abstracts for presentation at the conference, in Arabic or English, in one of the following areas:

Assessment and evaluation of student work
Professional development (including mentoring student teachers)
Active learning
Teaching and learning strategies
Educational technology
Educational policies
Special education
Curriculum development
Teaching and learning languages (English or Arabic)

The conference is open to a wide variety of topics within education at the primary or secondary school levels. At the conference, the audience will hear about the latest research issues, trends and challenges in education, including potential solutions and improvements.

The College of Education intends to select papers for presentation at the conference according to the following criteria:

Relevance to the conference topics
Clarity and coherence of ideas
Reliability and validity of methodologies and procedures
Potential benefit to educators
Overall quality of the abstract

Abstracts should not exceed 500 words in length. All of the accepted abstracts will be compiled into a booklet which will be given to the conference attendees. The following are important dates to remember:

- Closing date for submissions: March 31st, 2011
- Notification of acceptance: Before April 7th, 2011

Conference attendees and active conference participants will be given a certificate of attendance/participation at the end of the conference. Please send an email, no later than 20th April, 2011, showing your intent to attend the conference so that a certificate can be prepared for you.
