AAU Pharmacy College and Tawam Hospital Hold First Aid Course

AAU Pharmacy College and Tawam Hospital Hold First Aid CourseThe College of Pharmacy at Al Ain University in collaboration with Tawam Hospital held a First Aid training course aiming at raising health awareness among students and educating them on how to face emergencies. The course, entitled “First Aid and Community Health”, was delivered by Mr. Wisam Haleemah, First Trainer at Tawam Hospital. It offered information on the basics of First Aid in addition to training students to deal with various cases.

Mr. Wisam Haleemah explained that through organizing First Aid training courses we seek to help members of the community protect themselves and face life-threatening situations on both the individual and community levels.

The course dealt with the basics of First Aid and CPR as well as explaining the best practices when giving First Aid in different situations such as unconsciousness, airway obstruction, drowning, bleeding, burns, and fractures. The course also introduced how to handle group injuries and car accidents injuries, he added.

For her part, Dr. Ghalia Khoder, Assistant Professor at the College of Pharmacy and First Aid Course supervisor, underlined that AAU is committed to organizing health awareness courses for students through collaborating with the relevant public and private organizations. These courses aim at providing comprehensive, beneficial information for the individual and the community. The “First Aid and Community Health” course is part of a plan for equipping the pharmacy students with the necessary First Aid knowledge and enabling them to handle emergencies
