AAU Student First in Accounting on UAE Level

AAU Student First in Accounting on UAE LevelErnst & Young honored Aisha Al Otaibi, student at the AAU college of Business Administration, as one of the top five students on the UAE level in accounting and auditing which came as a result of the annual competition held by Ernst & Young for UAE universities. The ceremony was during a visit for Ernst & Young representatives to the AAU campus in Al Ain.

Dr. Sobhy El-Khatib, Dean of the AAU College of Business Administration, reiterated the importance of education and investment in young talents in the UAE. He added that 21 students of the best students at UAE universities underwent an accurate assessment process based on their academic performance, analytical skills, the experience they have in their fields, leadership attributes, and communication skills. AAU’s own, Aisha Al Otaibi managed to rank within the leading positions and came first.  

On her part, the student Aisha Al Otaibi said, “I am proud of this achievement, and I would like to thank everyone who has helped me to reach this level; my family, my professors at AAU, and my friends who gave me advice, support, and information that enhanced my abilities and helped me get here.”  

The Ernst & Young  - Abu Dhabi representative expressed his happiness for this event. Ernst & Young do not spare an effort in supporting education and young talents in the United Arab Emirates and the aspiration is to make the Student Excellence Award an annual event at Ernst & Young and to expand it in the future to include a greater number of disciplines such as Management and Information Technology. He also expressed that Ernst & Young hopes to make this celebration a national event to as part of Ernst & Young's ongoing commitment to invest in the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs in the UAE.

In a related context, the AAU Business Administration students at Abu Dhabi Campus visited Ernst and Young – Abu Dhabi accompanied by Dr. Riham Muqattash, assistant professor at the college of Business Administration. The visit aimed at introducing students to the auditing processes and identifying challenges that face auditors.
