Abu Dhabi Police “Crime Scene” Workshop at Al Ain UniversityIn collaboration with Abu Dhabi Police Crime Scene Department, the College of Law at Al Ain University organized a workshop for the Law students to support the syllabus of the “Practicum” course for senior students. The workshop included a detailed demonstration of handling a crime scene and the advanced equipment used for crime scene investigation. The workshop deliverers also explained the steps followed from the lodging of the report up to the entry of the crime scene, including collecting evidence, analyzing it, and preparing the forensic report to be sent to the prosecutor.

Captain Sabah Al Towashi and first sergeant Asma Al Nuimi of the Crime Scene Department presented the workshop. Captain Al Towashi explained that the crime scene is the repertoire of material evidence which gives it importance for the various justice departments to use in preparing the case and bringing the culprit to justice.

On his part, Dr. Hussain Al Mouguy, Dean of the College of Law, reiterated that the Law students need to be acquainted with the tasks and procedures of crime scenes due to their importance in legal work.  This kind of knowledge will assist them in identifying a crime scene, dealing with forensic evidence in order to utilize the information in the crime investigation. This will contribute to their preparation to become qualified, competent public prosecutors and lawyers.

At the end of the workshop, Dr. Al Mouguy presented a certificate of appreciation to the workshop deliverers in gratitude for their effort in delivering a comprehensive, highly informative workshop.
