Al Ain University Joins I Pledge Campaign

Al Ain University Joins “I Pledge” CampaignFaculty members and administrative staff at AAU campuses in Al Ain and Abu Dhabi signed the document for the “I Pledge” Campaign launched by Emirates Today newspaper in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior and Etisalat. The campaign aims at encouraging people to refrain from using mobile phones while driving.

Professor Ghaleb Al Refae, AAU President, stated that AAU was keen to join the campaign as it represents an important initiative to reduce traffic accidents that have claimed the lives of many young people and to promote the principles of public safety.

He added that the academic and administrative staff at AAU have responded positively to the campaign as they believe in its role in raising awareness and social responsibility.

On her part, Dr. Ibtehal Abu Rezq, Dean of Student Affairs, noted that AAU has circulated a memo to faculty members inviting them to join as well as asking them to encourage students to participate in the “I Pledge” Campaign.

In an attempt to fulfill its social responsibility, AAU was adamant to be among the higher education institutions that join the campaign to promote public awareness regarding the dangers of using mobile phones while driving.

It is noteworthy that the Deanship of Student Affairs will arrange an event for students to sign the document. Based on the initial reception of the idea, students are expected to flock to sign the document which reflects the AAU Community’s commitment to actively taking part in promoting public safety and traffic awareness.
