On Mother’s Day: Al Ain University Rejoices with New MothersStudents, faculty members, and staff from Al Ain University visited Khalifa Medical City in Abu Dhabi and Tawam Hospital in Al Ain. The visits, arranged by the Deanship of Student Affairs and the Community Service Committee at AAU, were on the occasion of Mother’s Day. Bearing gifts and flowers, the students shared in the mothers’ joy of the newborn babies.  The mothers, in turn, were quite appreciative of the gesture especially that it came on Mother’s Day.

Dr. Ibtehal Aburezq, Dean of Student Affairs and Head of the Community Service Committee, highlighted that AAU is always keen on encouraging students to be actively involved in all national and social occasions to help instill the values of social responsibility and cooperation in them. Mother’s Day is definitely an occasion that deserves to be marked for mothers are the backbone of society. The values and morals they nurture in their children reflect on the community as a whole, so they deserve to be honored by the entire society not just by their families.

AAU wanted to mark Mother’s Day in a different way this year, she added. We decided to distinguish new mothers who deserve and need all the love and support they can get. Therefore, students visited new mothers in Khalifa Medical City in Abu Dhabi as well as Tawam Hospital in Al Ain.

Nevertheless, AAU’s celebration was not only limited to the hospital visits, but it also included a number of cultural activities in which students and mothers participated bringing joy and cheer to everyone.

Dr. Aburezq also reiterated that as part of its belief that the students need to be effective in their own community, AAU is concerned with strengthening its ties with the social organizations and students’ families on all occasions. Such activities and visits enhance constructive values and leave a positive imprint on the individual’s personality.
