Al Ain University/ Abu Dhabi Campus organized a blood donation campaign in cooperation with Abu Dhabi Blood Bank (ADBB) at Shaikh Khalifa Medical City in Abu Dhabi.
Prof. Abdelhafid Belarbi, AAU Vice President, reiterated that the campaign is part of AAU’s dedication to taking part in various social events which aim at raising awareness among students about the importance of actively engaging in societal issues and enriching their sense of belonging.
Dr. Zuhrieh Shana’a, Deputy Dean of Student Affairs, noted that there is an increasing demand on donors especially with the UAE’s efforts to providing remedies for chronic blood diseases. The campaign, organized periodically by AAU with ADBB, is part of the AAU’s enhanced sense of responsibility towards the wider community and is line with its humanitarian role in extending a helping hand to patients and health care institutions alike.
Over 90 students in addition to faculty members and staff participated in the campaign which managed to raise more than 45 liters of blood.
