Al Ain University/ Al Ain Campus organized a blood donation campaign in cooperation with the Blood Bank. The campaign falls in line with AAU’s values of enhancing social engagement and togetherness as instructed by the teachings of Islam and implemented by the UAE leadership. In turn, AAU aims at raising awareness among students about recognizing their importance and role in the building of a coherent community.
In this regard, Dr. Ibtehal Aburezq, Dean of Student Affairs, mentioned that there is an increasing demand on donors especially as the UAE to provide strives to provide remedies for chronic blood diseases. The campaign, organized periodically by AAU with the Blood Bank, is in tandem with the AAU’s sense of responsibility towards the wider community and its humanitarian role in extending a helping hand to patients and health care institutions alike.
On her part, Aida Al Jaberi, AAU student, pointed that blood donation is a duty on the humanitarian and religious levels, and that anyone is at risk of an illness or accident that could lead them to requiring blood; therefore, the donation people make today can be regarded as a deposit balance in case they need it in the future.
Well over 90 students participated in the campaign in addition to faculty members and staff. It is noteworthy that the campaign managed to raise more than 45 liters of blood.
