The Deanship of Student Affairs at Al Ain University of Science and Technology, Abu Dhabi Campus, organized the second meeting with the new students joining AAU for the second semester. Dr. Abdelhafid Belarbi, AAU Vice President, attended the meeting as well as college deans, faculty members, and staff.

Dr. Belarbi welcomed the new students expressing his pleasure for their joining AAU highlighting that they are the focus of AAU’s attention as the University seeks to provide students with distinguished services to ensure they have the best setting for their academic development.

On her part, Dr. Zuhrieh Shanaa, the Deputy Dean of Student Affairs, welcomed the new students reiterating that in collaboration with the Deanship of Student Affairs, AAU pays special attention to both curricular as well as extracurricular activities. AAU believes strongly that attaining the best academic results can be achieved through various strategies one of which is encouraging extracurricular activities that support the educational vision. She highlighted that students need to maintain communication with the Deanship to take advantage of the various student activities that address the students’ interests and abilities, and that the Deanship is ready to provide all sorts of cultural, social, athletic, and arts activities through its various departments.

 In addition, Dr. Shanaa accentuated the role of academic advising for freshmen and advised them to resort to the Deanship of Student Affairs whenever they need to. Students must know their study plans throughout the course of their study at AAU. They also need to watch out from incomplete and makeup exams due to the pressure they pose on the student.
