College of Engineering Students to Yahsat

Nazih MallatThe AAU College of Engineering and Information Technology organized a field trip to Al Yah Satellite Communications Company Pr JSC (Yahsat) which provides multi-purpose satellite solutions for the government and commercial sectors in the Middle East, Africa, Europe and South West Asia. Eng. Abdelrahman Al Ashli and members of the technical team welcomed the students.

Eng. Abdelrahman Al Ashli introduced the 18 students to the various services provided by Yahsat such as BSS, the various frequencies used (C band, Ku band, Ka band), the steps followed when launching a satellite, and other interesting information on satellites.

 On his part, the trip supervisor, Dr. Nazih Khaddaj Mallat, Assistant Professor at the College of Engineering and Information Technology, highlighted that the College of Engineering pays special attention to the practical side of the learning process through providing all available opportunities for students. He added that the visit was a good opportunity to discuss future cooperation between Yahsat and AAU. Dr. Mallat presented a suggestion to host one of the seniors in the technical team at Yahsat to deliver a presentation at AAU to enhance the students’ information in this field.

At the end of the visit, Dr. Mallat extended gratitude in appreciation of the effort made by Eng. Al Ashli and the technical team at Yahsat as well as their hospitality. The students also expressed their pleasure at the informative visit hoping there would be more visits in the future.
