Webinar on 'Application Design Methodologies' by Microsoft and AAU

Hasan WehbaThe College of Engineering and Information Technology at AAU, Al Ain Campus, organized, in collaboration with Microsoft, USA, a webinar entitled “Application Design Methodologies – as practiced by Microsoft Globally”. The webinar was conducted simultaneously from the USA as well as at AAU, Al Ain campus. According to the Microsoft report, this is considered the first initiative of its kind on university level.

Dr. Hasan Wahbeh, Dean of the College of Engineering and Information Technology, welcomed Mr. Naveed Ahmed, Senior Software Development Engineer at Microsoft, USA. Dr. Wahbeh referred to Mr. Naveed’s contributions in delivering widely used Microsoft products, Microsoft Office 2010 & 2013, On-Line Transaction Processing (OLTP) Applications, Client/Server Applications, and Voice Over IP Telecommunication Call Processing, to name a few. Dr. Wahbeh also mentioned the remarkable impact of patents by Mr. Naveed Ahmed on ‘Application Streaming via HTTP’, which is widely used in the multimedia-based Internet industry.

 Dr. Wahbeh added that the importance of such webinars rests in exploring new design approaches practiced inside Microsoft to build up its large scale and successful software application development. He reiterated that such webinars are equally useful for all IT background departments, faculty, and students in getting insight of the technology lying behind some of the most successful software applications.
