Awareness Lecture on Sickle Cell Anemia at AAU

On the occasion of the World Sickle Cell Day, and in line with Al Ain University's commitment to raising awareness in the community, the AAU Deanship of Student Affairs in Abu Dhabi campus, in collaboration with Burjeel Hospital, organized an awareness lecture on Sickle Cell Anemia.
Dr. Ahed Bisharat, consultant and head of pediatrics department at Burjeel Hospital, presented a talk on the definition, symptoms, and risks of sickle cell anemia. He also discussed the latest advances in identifying the defective gene causing the disease and how it affects the rest of the body. Further, Dr. Bisharat added an explanation of the obstacles and challenges facing physicians when treating the disease.
