Pencil Drawing Course at AAUThe AAU Deanship of Student Affairs at Abu Dhabi campus held a drawing by pencil beginners’ course for AAU students, which was delivered by Mr. Mousa Mohsen, AAU staff member. The course aimed to develop the participants’ drawing skills and talents as well as help them learn a new skill by pencil drawing.

Mr. Mousa Mohsen explained that drawing by pencil relies on two stages. The first is choosing the appropriate formation by selecting a certain shot or returning visuals into basic geometrical shapes whether cylinders, circles, or lines. Perspective can also be controlled by sketching an imaginary vertical line in the middle of the drawing. The second stage is determining the shadows where we start by shading using the different shades of the pencil. It is well-known that the light falling on objects is either natural light which falls through parallel rays or artificial light which is in the shape of an open angle. As for spherical shapes, light is preferably illustrated in the form of arches or incomplete circles.
