The College of Pharmacy at Al Ain University organized a workshop on “Molecular Docking, Virtual Screening & Biologics Discovery” at Al Ain Campus, which lasted for two days . The workshop was presented by Mr. R.Raghu –Vice President- and Dr. Pritesh from SCHRODINGER company under the supervision of Dr. Mohammad Ghattas, Assistant Prof. in the College of Pharmacy.

The workshop was attended by Dr. Noor El Deen Atatreh, AAU Chancellor, Academic Staff, professors and research scholars as guests.

The training course for the workshop has been designed to provide the theoretical background as well as a hands-on approach to Molecular Docking and Virtual screening. The workshop also covered the use of different software and focused on Chem-informatics methods for lead identification and optimization.

The workshop topics include, the Methods and Advances in computer aided drug design, the most prominent: SCHRODINGER software, which is the program number one in the world  in Molecular Docking, Approaches in Target selection and refinement for docking studies, Identification and evaluation of Binding Pocket / Active site, Docking approaches in virtual screening and Lead identification, Modeling the unknown proteins for docking studies, Pharmacophore modeling and virtual screening of novel compounds, Refinement of novel leads using ADME prediction and Similarity and dissimilarity based methods in lead identification.

In this context, the AAU Chancellor stressed on the importance of this workshop for all scientists, academics and to the people interested in the field of pharmacy.

He also expressed on the university's interest in scientific research which achieves the beneficial and academic development.
