For the first time in Al Ain University, under the College of Education, Humanities and Social Sciences, the English Language Department organized the '3ainawi Oliver Twist' play, which was performed and administered by the AAU students under the direction of the faculty member, Mrs Ream Odetallah, from the ELTE Department. The guests of honor were the AAU Vice President, Prof. Abdulhafid Belarbi, the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Ibtehal Aburezeq and Deans from other colleges. It was also attended by many faculty members, students and visitors from outside the University.
The play is taken out from the Charles Dickens’ original story ‘Oliver Twist’, which briefly tells about the young orphan, Oliver, who gets lost in the streets of London, meets with the wrong people and due to his nature and principles he gets away with the crimes the street gang has maneuvered him into.
The aims of the play are to support, encourage and entertain the students by promoting their community interactions, strengthening their extracurricular abilities, self-challenging themselves with confidence and breaking the norms of the daily humdrums.
It is worth mentioning that the '3ainawi Oliver Twist' play is the first English play ever to be performed in Al Ain University since its inception. It is a great achievement that has been highly commended by its audience.
