The College of Engineering (CoE) at Al Ain University in conjunction with the IEEE UAE Section, IEEE UAE MTT & IM & AP Joint Chapter and the IEEE AAU Student Branch, organized a technical workshop entitled, MATLAB Academic Tour 2018 UAE, at Abu Dhabi Campus, under the supervision of Dr. Nazih Khaddaj Mallat, Dean of the CoE, Dr. Faten Khrabat, Deputy Dean of the CoE, and in the presence of academic staff of the college, number of engineers from different institutions and CoE students.

The workshop was presented by two keynote speakers; Mrs. Loren Shure (Mathworks, Consulting Application Engineer) and Mr. Alessandro Tarchini (Mathworks, EMEA EDU Business and Market Development), who talked about two main ideas; Top 10 productivity tools in MATLAB, and Deep learning using MATLAB.

The aim of the workshop is to let the participants explore, analyze, visualize data, develop, test, and maintain MATLAB algorithms and applications, consolidate and share results with colleagues.  In addition to know how the access to MATLAB contributes to build a "First rate" education system and helps top universities to address issues with Attractiveness, Retention, and Employability of students.

Dr. Nazih said that this workshop is a good opportunity for engineers and researchers to exchange expertise and emphasizes the University's keenness in developing scientific researchers.

The MATLAB program is the most popular program in the scientific community. It is a very useful tool to analyze and design electronic systems by computer. It has become widely used in the engineering curriculum and is used in industrial design and simulation.
