Environmental Day promotes the importance of environmental protection
The College of Business at Al Ain University, Al Ain Campus, organized the third environment day under the theme “Our waste is another resource" under the supervision of Dr. Adel Ahmed, Dean of College of Business and Dr. Mosab Tabash. In the presence of Prof. Ghaleb El Refae, AAU President, academic staff, administrative staffs and students.
The day activity was enriched by having speakers from Tadweer where Mrs. Nashwa Al Ameri presented a workshop about the UAE government procedures to protect the environment, and projects done by Tadweer to protect the environment and reduce pollution especially recycling. Mrs. Amani bin Humaid from the Environment Agency in Abu Dhabi presented an introductory workshop on the Sustainable Universities Initiative and the role that the Environment Authority plays to preserve the environment along with a set of initiatives that it launches across the country to interact with society and promote environmental awareness. Also, Mr. Ghulam Ashraf from Lootah BioFuels company introduced the company role to innovate sustainable solutions for the long-term energy requirements.
The environmental day witnessed cultivation of plants on the campus with the participation of the AAU president and the university family to emphasize the importance of afforestation in protecting the environment and creating an environmental balance.
The main purpose of the environmental day is to raise awareness on the importance of environmental protection for economic development, as well as, on the need to adopt more sustainable production and consumption patterns.
