Civil engineering students at Al Ain University achieved outstanding results during their participation in the Concrete Disc Competition held at the American University of Sharjah. Student teams from various universities across the UAE participated at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
The university students achieved outstanding results, as follows: In the general category, first place was taken by Abdulrahman Ayman, Ahmed Asaad, and Ayman Al-Suwaiti. First place for the longest distance was taken by Ahmed Asaad, Ayman Al-Suwaiti, and Abdulrahman Ayman. The university team, consisting of Ayoub Abu Ta'ah, Mohammed Al-Labbad Abu Eida, and Adel Al-Zaidi, took second place in the general category.
This achievement was achieved under the supervision of Dr. Omar Najm and Engineer Israa Hajjah. The students relied on innovative designs and advanced materials to manufacture high-performance concrete discs. One of them reached a distance of 40 meters with only minor cracks, reflecting a high level of engineering creativity. The competition aims to test students' skills in designing and casting a lightweight, dynamic, and durable concrete disc, through realistic challenges in distance, precision, endurance, and creative design. This achievement embodies Al Ain University's commitment to providing an applied learning environment that supports innovation and links academic knowledge with real-world experiences, enhancing students' readiness to compete in the job market.
