Nazih Khaddaj Mallat, Ph.D

Vice President, Accreditation and Quality Assurance

Al Ain Campus

Biography

His primary research interests include passive microwave/millimeter-wave circuits, antennas, filters, and telecommunications systems, leading to over 60 publications. He has extensive teaching experience at both undergraduate and graduate levels, having taught numerous courses and their practical components in laboratories at multiple Montreal universities (ETS, TELUQ, Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal). He has held significant roles within the IEEE Montreal Section, serving as Vice-Chair (2007-2008), Membership Development Chair (2009-2010), and Section Chair (2011-2012). He has also been part of the steering committee for several IEEE international conferences. In 2013, he joined the College of Engineering at Al Ain University (AAU) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as "Assistant Professor", and was promoted to "Associate Professor" in 2019, and to "Full Professor" in 2024. His administrative roles at AAU include Head of the "Networks & Communication Engineering and Computer Engineering" Department (2013-2017)", "Deputy Dean- College of Engineering (2014-2015)", "Dean- College of Engineering (2015-2018)", and "Director- Quality Assurance & Institutional Research Center (2018-2020)". Since November 2020, he has served as the "Vice President for Accreditation & Quality Assurance". He founded the IEEE AAU Student Branch and the IEEE UAE MTT-S Chapter (later the IEEE UAE MTT-S & IM-S & AP-S Joint Chapter). Additionally, he was the IEEE UAE Technical Activities Coordinator (2015-2018) and the IEEE Region 8 Chapter Coordination Subcommittee Chair (2015-2016). He also chaired the organizing committees for three major events at Al Ain University: the 1st IEEE International Workshop at AAU (Feb. 2014), the 11th IEEE UAE Student Day (May 2016), and the 16th Mediterranean Microwave Symposium (MMS2016 - Nov. 2016).
