Anti-drug Campaign at AAU

Marking the World Drug Day and in support of the “My family; my happiness” campaign, the Deanship of Student Affairs and the Student Council at Al Ain University organized an awareness campaign in the AAU campus in Abu Dhabi. The campaign was held in cooperation with the Anti-drug section, the Security search department (K9), and the National rehabilitation center at the Abu Dhabi police GHQ.
The activities included an awareness-raising exhibition and contests as well as featured a purposeful social theatre play that presented the dangers of drugs to the community and how naïve individuals can be fooled to try drugs. The campaign also highlighted that controlling the spread of drug abuse can only be done through the collaboration of the entire members of the community with the help of the professional organizations.
In addition to a workshop, the audience received awareness booklets warning against drug use and abuse, their causes and psychological, social, health and economic impacts; as well as advice for treatment and rehabilitation. The campaign was received positively by AAU students, faculty, and staff.
