AAU Organizes a Festival "The University Reads"

AAU Organizes a Festival "The University Reads"

The Al Ain University, based in Al Ain, hosted a two-day Festival under the title "The University Reads", which was formed by the Deanship of Students Affairs in cooperation with the Sheikha Bint Sroor School and Sheikh Mohammad bin Khalid Al Nahyan Association. The aim of this festival is to widen the participation in promoting awareness of the importance of reading and the challenges faced by authors in technical and technological progress, the media and other roots of cognition.

The festival is aimed at university students, schools and teachers of Arabic Language, specialist learning-resource centers and parents. It is seeking to activate community participation in raising awareness of the importance of reading and its role in disseminating culture and among the various segments of  the society.

And Dr. Enas Abu-Libdeh, the AAU Dean of Students Affairs, explained that the organized festival is part of the many joint activities that seek to raise awareness among the public the importance of reading and its role in achieving this end. And in her speech at the opening of the festival with the cooperation partners, she expressed her thanks and appreciation to Dr. Haitham Mohamed Bani-Issa, a Professor of Education, and Dr. Issa Rubaieh, Head of the Arabic Language Deaprtment, their efforts to enrich the events and the success of the festival.

The school participated in the festival through many activities and events, including the Sheikha Bint Sroor Corner Club for young writers., where a narrator tells the story of “Rihlat Waraqa” (A Paper Journey). There was also the Council of Mothers booth, in addition to other booths, such as the AAU Library, Sultan bin Zayed Center for Culture and Science and a photo- developer booth.

And the  Mohammed bin Khalid Association gave a distinctive presentation in the festival through its ‘Induction Corner", which gives an insight to the public about the association and services for families and children in particular. It also demonstrated the objectives of library ‘Future Generations’, which seeks to support and raise awareness of its importance, as well as the presentation of programs adopted by the library to enrich the cultural scene in Al Ain through the library of future generations and the e-library.

The Association's participation included educational games and entertainment, in addition to a creativity competition for free expression in drawing, storytelling and in poetry, as well as lectures and workshops for gifted children in reading . The festival was wrapped up with Omar Bin Al Ass’ literary and cultural competitions that, successfully, made the students to interact.
