AAU and ADEK promotes the Research Excellence
The Deanship of Scientific Research and Graduate Studies represented by Prof. Bassam Harb, Dean of the Scientific Research and Graduate Studies organized a seminar on “ADEK Award for Research Excellence”, presented by Prof. Martina Newell-McGloughlin, the Director of the Research, Innovation and Knowledge Division at ADEK. The seminar was held at Al Ain Campus, and it was attended by Dr. Amer Qasem, AAU Vice President, deans, and academic faculty from both campuses.
Dr. McGloughlin provided a brief on the award and its various fields, ranging from water, energy and environment, materials and infrastructure, space, robotics and artificial intelligence, ICT, electronics, health, food and agriculture, education and social sciences. In addition to a detailed explanation of the procedures and instructions to follow when applying for the award. She also talked about the arbitration process of the projects submitted and their criteria based on innovation and its positive impact on the Abu Dhabi community according to the important research areas in the region.
This workshop came in line with the AAU’s strategy to develop scientific research, keep pace with technological progress at the local and international levels, encourage faculty members to undertake scientific research and to obtain external support for projects that have a positive impact on the Abu Dhabi community; as well as; on the global community.
The Dean of Scientific Research and Graduate Studies emphasized the importance of organizing these workshops because of their positive impact on the research activity of faculty members in particular and on scientific research in the university as a whole.
