Under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, the Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, Al Ain University celebrated the graduation of the 17th cohort, known as the "Year of Sustainability Batch," on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi. The ceremony was attended by senior officials, diplomats representing various countries, representatives from government and private institutions, members of the university's board of trustees, university council members, deans, department heads, and centers, as well as the graduates' parents.

His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan delivered a speech in place of His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan, in which he congratulated the graduates, saying, "Congratulations to all of you. Know that this graduation is an important step toward achieving success in your lives, realizing your hopes and aspirations with the help of God." He added, "You now have a definite opportunity to embark on broader and more welcoming horizons through acquiring knowledge, continuous learning, creativity, innovation, and a commitment to authentic human values. Seize the initiative to serve yourselves, your community, and your nation." He also highlighted Al Ain University's advanced position among universities in the country and the region, as well as its global rankings. He emphasized the university's continuous efforts to create an attractive educational environment that preserves the nation's culture and prepares students for both work and life.

He encouraged the Sustainability batch graduates to contribute to achieving sustainability in the community by working diligently and performing their tasks with excellence to realize their hopes, aspirations, and dreams.

Dr. Noor Al Deen Atatreh, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees, expressed his pride in graduating a new generation of educated and conscious youth. He stated that the graduation ceremony represents the realization of Al Ain University's vision to graduate an ambitious generation capable of serving their nation and meeting its needs. He emphasized that this achievement would not have been possible without the presence of wise leadership with a forward-looking vision for the future, ensuring unlimited support for all educational institutions since the era of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan - may God have mercy on him. The journey of development continues with unwavering steps and a discerning vision under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE, who is a patron of cultural and scientific advancement and a supporter of the path of knowledge and education towards a promising future of progress, prosperity, and leadership.

Prof. Ghaleb Al-Refae, the AAU President, pointed out that launching the "Sustainability batch" label for the 17th cohort of graduates at the University of Al Ain coincides with the Year of Sustainability in the United Arab Emirates. He emphasized the university's commitment to contributing to sustainability, both within the university and in the wider community. He encouraged the graduates to continue expanding their knowledge and self-development, as they are ambassadors of knowledge. He stressed that the University of Al Ain is eager to support its graduates as ambassadors.

Furthermore, the university strives to enhance the quality of education and maintain international academic accreditations and global rankings. This effort aims to enhance the value of a university degree, creating broader employment opportunities for graduates and subsequently elevating their status in the job market.

The graduation ceremony of the Sustainability batch included 350 graduates who completed their graduation requirements in both the first and second semesters, as well as the first and second summer semesters of the academic year 2022-2023, from the university's campuses in Al Ain and Abu Dhabi. During this period, Al Ain University achieved numerous accomplishments that reflect its strategic focus on scientific and research development and community service, demonstrating its dedication and hard work. Specifically, the College of Education, Humanities & Social Sciences has been granted CAEP Accreditation for two academic programs: Postgraduate Professional Diploma in Teaching and Bachelor of Education in Special Education. These achievements underscore the university's commitment to delivering high-quality education and its global recognition in teacher preparation and special education programs.
