Biography

Mohanad Halaweh is a Professor of Information Systems, and an experienced educator having taught in numerous universities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Kuwait, and United Kingdom (UK). He holds a PhD degree in Information Systems (IS) from De Montfort University, UK. He is an active researcher and has published 50+ articles at international ranked journals and conferences (all appear in SCOPUS and/or ABDC ranking). He participated in many international conferences in IS field such as ICIS, PACIS and ACIS; a top-tier conferences in IS research (ranked A according to the ERA rating).
Prof. Halaweh was also the recipient of several research awards. For example, he has won first place in the research award category, in the field of Information Technology, at the 40th Rashid Bin Humaid Cultural and Sciences Award in 2023. He also received Certificate for Excellent Paper presented at IEEE International Conference on Knowledge Engineering and Applications, Singapore, September 28-30, 2016; the Excellence Research Award last 2012 for the College of Information Technology from University of Dubai; and Best Paper Award presented at 8th International Multidisciplinary Conference on eCommerce and e-Government in Poland in October 2008.
Prof. Halaweh served as a program committee member and reviewer for many international journals and conferences, speaker and chair for international conferences. He acted as external examiner for PhD theses, and supervised several MS theses in IS field. His research focus is on E-commerce/Digital Innovations; IT Adoption; Emerging Technologies Impacts (e.g., AI, Big Data, NFC, VR); and Research on Research/Science (meta-research).
Prof. Halaweh is an Affiliate member of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Academy of Scientists in the UAE for 2021. He is Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) received from PMI, and Oracle Certified Java Programmer. He also received IBM Data Science Professional Certificate. Prof. Halaweh has also extensive academic administrative experience. He served as an Acting President of a University in Dubai, Director of Quality Assurance and Accreditation, Director for the MBA program, and chaired several key committees such as University Evaluation and Audit; ABET task-force, AACSB task-force, University scientific research, curriculum, and University risk management. He also has experience of designing and developing new academic programs.
