Job Summary:
Computer Lab Supervisor is responsible for providing assistance to students and faculty. The main responsibility is to seek technical help for students with computer related software (Java, php, Python, Android) in the computer lab and during scheduled hours. Computer Lab Assistants are responsible for maintaining a clean quiet work area for students.
Job Description:
- Work independently and in a group environment to deliver solutions according to project deadlines and requirements
- Understand course requirements and translate them into design and student oriented functions
- Participate on assignments and projects by clarifying business requirements, performing application development and modification activities, as well as related maintenance and support
- Utilize programming languages (C, C++, Java, Rational Rose, MatLab, etc...) and software technology, fully understanding and applying internal coding standards.
- Clearly communicate updates and progress on deliverables upon request
- Take ownership of assigned tasks and complete tasks according to responsibility prioritization.
- Apply quality assurance principles and processes to ensure application meets the needs of the customer and to reduce defects
- Provide timely response during on call periods
- Be adaptable to changes in priority and include proper parties in decision making as necessary
Qualifications and Skills
Education: Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent problem solving and time management skills
- Proficient in Lab View modeling and Matlab programming
- Thorough knowledge of laboratory safety
- Excellent organization and communications skills, demonstrated success at taking steps to proactively understand and meet the needs of clients
- Ability to work collegially with a diverse community and all constituents.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, and some weekends
