PDU at AAU develops the Academic staff skills

The Professional Development Unit at Al Ain University organized a workshop for faculty members in both campuses Al Ain and Abu Dhabi, entitled; Interdisciplinary Research, Principles and Methods, presented by Dr. Umar Ruhi from University of Ottawa, Canada and implemented by Dr. Adel Ahmed, Director of Professional Development Unit.
The workshop’s purpose was to review the basic tenets of the scientific research process, define and show examples of exploratory, descriptive and explanatory research, clarify differences between behavioral and Design Research paradigms and give examples of interdisciplinary research projects.
Dr. Adel Ahmed commented, This workshop will introduce academic researchers to the practice of interdisciplinary academic research through examples and best practices that span across various research approaches, including the positivist and interpretive epistemologies, as well as behavioral science and design science research paradigms.
It’s worth to mention that, the workshop drew upon examples from various empirical and applied research domains, including; management science, health administration, systems science, and information systems.
