Biography

Dr. Haroon Mahmood is currently working as an Assistant Professor in Al Ain University, Al Ain, UAE. Before joining this role, he has worked as an Assistant Professor at National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences, Lahore for 9 years.  He has taught courses to undergraduate, graduate and PhD. level students including Information Security, Computer Networks, Advanced Operating Systems and Internet of Things (IoT). His specialization is Information Security especially the design of reliable and secure IoT systems. He has been involved in many Industry-academia R&D projects. He along with his colleagues secured a funding of 92 million rupees from Planning Commission of Pakistan to establish an IoT Security Lab in University of Engineering and Technology Lahore in 2018. He worked as a Co-Principal Investigator to lead the project on “Security Audit Tools for IoT devices”. The research findings have been published in multiple journals and conferences in recent years.

He completed his PhD and Masters degree in Computer Engineering from Politecnico di Torino, Italy. During his PhD, he worked on several aspects of embedded system design with particular emphasis on the design and modeling of reliable, secure and power-efficient solutions.
